Let Us Engage In Meaningful Dialogue

TO ALL THOSE CONCERNED:

This weblog has been created for one primary reason. I wish to promote intelligent and meaningful dialogue between groups of individuals representing all walks of life. Conversations promoted and discussed here will deal primarily with the political and social realm of America and to a secondary extent, other countries throughout the world. I wish to provide a medium or channel for concerned persons to engage in a civil, in-depth, and thought provoking conversation.

THE PROBLEM

Meaningful conversation between opposite thinking individuals is all but gone. The political discourse in America has been cheapened by the likes of an entertainment media that sells dumbed down 30 second sound bytes as news for profit. It's pathetic.

The majority of individuals living in America are informed of daily news by powerful agenda setting media organizations who have no interest in promoting venues where Americans truly learn something. They sell sex and fear and make billions off of it. The typical six o'clock newscast is nothing but a bombardment
of negative, sad, and conflict laden stories where in the end most viewers have more questions than answers. We are truly bombarded with meaningless information on a regular basis. From the time we awake in the morning we are injected with a plethora of information: consume, come here for savings, its on "special", two people were shot here, a 14 year old had sex with his "hot and sexy" teacher, buy your plasma TV for less than $1000.00, sale ends Friday. And now with the national news. Blah, blah, blah. One must be careful. We as a whole are told what the news is. The topics are selected and repeatedly blasted to the American populace. Why are certain topics given more weight than others? The sheer amount of information that we are bombarded with is way too much.

We must be very discriminatory in what information we listen to and or watch and thus absorb. There are only twenty-four hours in a day.

THE SOLUTION

On a bi-monthly basis I will post a new blog concerning some pertinent issue of importance that has made its way through the rapid and ever changing news cycle. The blog will be updated every 14 days or twice a month. The blogs will usually post the 1st and 15th of every month. My blog, as nature would have it, will contain my take or view on whatever the issue is at hand. The blog will contain loaded terminology and a somewhat weighted view on the topic. As author of the blog I will attach my own filter and or bias to the selected story. This will naturally be evident in my writings. In sharing opinions we all have our own filter. The more filters, the better.

The blog may call you to action, disgust you, incense you, or flatter you! The primary motivator here is to arouse your senses and provoke you to offer some form of a response and or an entire different take on the issue at hand. There are multiple ways to look at an important issue. The more intelligent comments that are articulated and posted here the better informed one will become and our civilization as whole will reap from it by means of a more educated citizenry.

It is your responsibility to comment on the blog if you feel inclined to do so. We are promoting civilized debate. So you can pretty much say anything within respectable reasoning, except no vulgarities, threats or misspelled words. Take pride and deep thought in what you share with others.

We are building a house of knowledge. We wish to converse in depth over a topic, immerse ourselves in it, pontificate, share ideas, find common ground and move on. We will not cover multiple subjects in rapid fire succession. This is the the problem with todays media, there is way too much needless information out there for us to assimilate. The more ideas and tools we share with one another the more stable, well rounded and enlightened our house will become.

Happy Blogging!
